(2) At the stage of indentation, the pitch circle diameter of the roller and the workpiece varied continuously with the radial feeding of the roller, in order to realize the variable circular pitch rolling forming, the rotation speed of the workpiece should be dynamically modified according to Eq. (5.8):

where d 1i and d 2i are the pitch circle diameters of the workpiece and the roller at the contacting instant, which can be calculated according to the center distance between the roller and workpiece and the meshing principle.

(3) At the finishing stage, the relative motion between the roller and workpiece is a kind of meshing movement without top backlash. The rotation speed of the workpiece can be calculated accurately from Eq. (5.9):
